P.L.A.Y. Project for Autism

P.L.A.Y. Project for Autism

Designed for children 18 months to 6 years old with autism spectrum disorders, the P.L.A.Y. (Play and Language for Autistic Youngsters) Project teaches parents and caregivers how to interact with their child through home consultations that focus on the child’s playtime as a way to develop communication. Monthly home visits use video tape technology to give families detailed guidance about ways to implement learned techniques at home.

A Partner on Your Personal Journey

Imagine being able to interact and communicate with your child who has autism. Emerging research strongly suggests that child centered, relationship based intervention is very effective in helping young children with autistic spectrum disorders gain language and social skills. Through a total of eight to 12 monthly visits, a trained consultant will come to your home and work directly with you and your child in your natural environment. Each P.L.A.Y. Project consultant receives training directly from Dr. Richard Solomon, M.D., the physician who developed this valuable playtime therapy for children with autism. Families can apply their Ohio Autism Scholarship to cover the cost of this valuable therapy. Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley also offers scholarship assistance.
