Radio Reading Service
Our Radio Reading Service broadcasts readings of local and regional newspapers, magazines, books and other current printed information to people with visual disabilities and other physical or mental impairments. Through this free service you can stay connected to your community despite your disability.
Broadcasts reach nine counties in southwest Ohio and are heard 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week, thanks to our team of 70 volunteer readers. Programming is heard over special radios tuned to the subcarrier frequencies of WDPR-FM (greater Dayton area), WDPG-FM (Greenville and areas north) and WCDR-FM (Springfield, Urbana, Greene and Clinton County areas). Radios are loaned to approved applicants at no cost.

Who We Serve
- A 72 year old gentleman who is legally blind and with the help of a lighted high powered magnifier can see printed material but said after reading for just a little bit it was exhausting for him. He looks forward to using his radio and hearing the news.
- A mother of a 39 year old man who suffered a traumatic brain injury in a workplace accident said she is excited to receive the radio to help her son stay connected to the news in the area.
- A son of a 72 year old woman who is legally blind read an article in the Dayton Daily News about the Radio Reading Service program. He had never heard of such a thing but was interested in getting it so his mom could start hearing the news on her radio and keep informed.
